This photo of a prickly pear cactus was taken at Zion National Park in late May. Of all places in the US, Zion is one of my favorites. The massive mountains of beautiful red sandstone stretche out before you, or sometimes below you when hiking the trails high over the valley. And then, too, there are these beautiful cactus that sometimes bloom.
