Stone Carvings of Spain

What's New

The photos on this page were taken during a month-long trip through Spain in April of 2012. We traveled from Madrid to Toledo, and on from there in a clockwise direction throughout Spain, spending a week at a time in several locations from which we explored the surrounding villages. We spent a week each in Baeza, Caceres, and Vejer de la Frontera. Many of the villages surrounding these cities still have some or much of the medieval fortifications that date back to the 13th and 14th century. All of these villages are beautiful, interesting, clean and safe and a sheer pleasure to visit. The landscape throughout Spain is also dotted with ancient castles. Most of these stone carvings are 400 to 500 years old.
