Yanahuara and Cayma are within walking distance of the Plaza de Armas of Arequipa. Alternatively, a taxi will have you there in 5 to 10 minutes for a mere 3 or 4 soles. The Plaza de Armas of Yanahuara is on all the tour bus stops. It is a pleasant little park with beautiful landscaping, an attractive little church, and excellent views of El Misti. Further afield is Sabandia, where there is an old restored water-powered mill. The building and grounds are pleasant, but this too is heavily visited by tourists. On this page, I've included photos of Yanahuara, Peru and Cayma, Peru as well as the surrounding countryside and views to Chachani and El Misti to provide you with an idea of what this part of the world looks like. I hope you enjoy my photos of Peru.

These huge earthen jars line the entrance to El Mollino de Sabandia.

These huge earthen jars line the entrance to El Mollino de Sabandia. This is an old water-powered mill on display if you like that sort of thing. It has now become a favorite local tourist attraction and is one of Arequipa's BusTour's stops. So if you're interested in visiting, it would be best to time it to avoid this crowd.

In early 2009, Yanahuara's plaza had an ecologically-themed art display of posters made by artists throughout the world.

Not surprisingly, El Misti changes almost on a daily basis. Snow has come and gone several times during the summer of 2009.
