Bois Blanc Island is commonly known as Bob-lo by the island's residents and is the largest of the three islands in the Mackinaw straits. The island is heavily forested and was a source of lumber for Mackinac Island since the late 1700's. This page shows an old sawmill that is still operational. A unique feature of this antique machinery is the planing machine, capable of simultaneously planing four sides of the lumber after being freshly sawn.

Visitor and vehicle access to the island is available via ferry from Cheboygan, MI. Contact Plaunt Transportation for ferry schedules.
