The Bolivian landscape is diverse, including the high altitude Andes
Mountains and the Amazon basin. I visited both areas for the photos shown
on this page. Bolivia is a landlocked country, with a largely very poor
population. The child with a churango, shown in the photo below, was a
homeless street kid that played for money. Seeing shoeless children with
their possessions slung over their backs, bundled within colorful fabrics
that are common to Bolivia was a frequent sight. The old woman in the
photo below, was typical for her bowler hat and deeply wrinkled face.
Bolivia still has extensive areas of unspoiled Amazon basin rainforest,
making it a premier place for adventurous travelers to escape civilization
and see tropical nature and wildlife as it's existed unchanged for
centuries. The photo of the piranha was taken in the Rio Yacuma region of
Bolivia.

Old Woman
I encountered this old woman - and her fascinating face - at a market in Calacoto, Bolivia, just
south of La Paz.

Child With Churango
Bolivia is a very poor, land-locked country. Often, entire homeless families will beg for
food outside of restaurants. This little boy played a churango on a street corner in La Paz
for tips.

places to browse.
