Most of the oldest buildings in Edinburgh Castle date to the 1500s. However, the St. Margaret's Chapel was built in the 1100s. There has been a castle or fortress here since the 1100s and it's claimed to be the one of the most attacked places in the world.

The castle resides on a high ridge overlooking Edinburgh. It is on one end of Edinburgh's famous Royal Mile and Holyrood Palace at the other.
