The Escalante Grand Staircase National Monument in Utah has some of the most beautiful desert scenery in the American Southwest. Within this beautiful, rugged wilderness area lies an area known as Coyote Buttes. And within Coyote Buttes North is a set of stunningly beautiful rock formations known as The Wave, now famous for its beauty and a top world travel destination for hikers and photographers. People come from all around the world to see it. Seeing it legally, however, requires a permit from the BLM, and these permits are given to only twenty people per day. Ten of these are issued in advance via internet registration and ten more are issued daily by lottery for the next day. To get information about the permit process see BLM Permits for Coyote Buttes North and South. This page has pictures of The Wave, Coyote Buttes North, and the Escalante Grand Staircase National Mounument in Utah. A second page of photos can be viewed at Escalante N.M. Page 2.
