It's thought that the construction of the Fortrose Cathedral was begun in the mid-thirteenth century. However, the oldest remaining portions of the standing structures date to the late 1300s. The cathedral is built with attractive red sandstone. The clock was added after the reformation of 1560. Fortrose is located roughly fourteen miles north-northeast of Inverness.
