| The Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park is an amazing place to visit in Grand Rapids, MI. The Sculpture Park is proclaimed to be the most extensive display of sculptures in the midwest featuring over 30 worldwide-reknowned sculptors, including: Auguste Rodin, Aristide Maillol, Jacques Lipchitz, Henry Moore, Louise Nevelson, Mark di Suvero, Magdalena Abakanowicz, George Rickey, Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen, Juan Munoz, Hanneke Beaumont, Louise Bourgeois and Mimmo Paladino. The Sculpture Park covers about 32 acres with a mile long trail that passes by each of the sculptures. Most of the grounds are beautifully landscaped with a meandering stream, with waterfalls and wetland areas that attract wildlife such as Great Blue Herons. See more photos at Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park - Page 2. | There is also a variety of indoor habitats for different types of plants such as cacti and orchids. The Gardens also features an assortment of carnivorous plants. An outdoor amphitheatre at Meijer Gardens also hosts evening outdoor summer concerts. My personal opinion was that the Sculpture Park was far more impressive than I'd anticipated, whereas the Gardens were less so. Nevertheless, I can strongly suggest a visit to the Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park. It's a beautiful place. Their official website can be visited at: Frederik Meijer Gardens.
