The reputation of my photographic prowess has spread far and wide throughout the frog world.
These frogs, hearing of my reputation and wanting to enhance their own, came to me to record
their portraits. Their personalities ran the gamut. And they weren’t bashful about revealing
them. The Blue Poison Frog, snob that he is, kept his nose high in the air. Simply making an
appearance was as much trouble as he would take. The Yellow Banded Frog, as the shot below
shows, talked throughout the entire shoot - wouldn't keep its mouth shut. Perhaps it was simply
nervous energy. The Ornate
Horned Frogs, both male and female, tried their best to intimidate me with their steely stares.
I refused to be intimidated or to back away. The Phantasmal Frog was in a hell of a mood. His
back bristled at the mere showing of my camera and the other frogs backed slowly away. My favorite
subjects, the Waxy Monkey Frogs,
were as cool as cucumbers throughout the entire shoot. I suggested they look far forward imagining
their froghood future. Their posing performances – poised to say the least - deserved Oscars.
These frog portraits were recorded at the Chorus of Colors exhibition both at Chicago and Manhattan.
This exhibit is scheduled to continue touring throughout the USA through 2010. Information about
this exhibit can be found at: Chorus of Colors.
