Guadalupe, Spain is a beautiful little town of about 2,000 people. It is home to old cathedrals and monasteries, which are a pleasure to visit. This page has photos of The monastery of Santa Maria de Guadalupe, one of the country's most important monasterys for nearly four centuries. Today, it is a UNESCO World Heritage site. As the story goes, the monastery was built in the 13th century after a statue of the virgin Mary was discovered on the banks of the Guadalupe River. It had been buried there in the year 714 during the invasion of the Moors. This page has photos of the Monastery of Santa Maria de Guadalupe, the city streets, the city's attractive central plaza, and the famous old statue Our Lady of Guadalupe.
