The Inca Trail is a 3-1/2 day hike to the famous ruins of Machu Picchu in the Andes Mountains of Peru. It is one of the best hikes in the world, but unfortunately overly crowded with hikers. Machu Picchu is one of the most famous and beautiful of the top travel destinations in the world. And the Inca Trail hike to get there is perhaps the most famous hike in the world through the stunningly beautiful Andes Mountains. The scenery here is what photographers dream of. The hike is quite strenuous and passes over fairly high mountain passes. The high elevation gives some people altitude sickness. But oh yea, it is worth every difficult step. The scenery is some of the best of any I've seen anywhere, and I'm old enough to have seen a lot of it. See these pictures of the Inca Trail, the Andes Mountains, Machu Picchu and Incan ruins using the Slideshow below.
