The Isle of Skye is famous worldwide for its stunning scenery and mountain hiking and climbing. It's a very popular destination for travelers wanting to experience the Scottish Highlands. A visit to the Isle of Skye should include a hike up to and around the Isle's iconic landmark - the Old Man of Storr. The stone pinnacle of that name is visible for many miles around and is probably one of the most photographed features of The Isle of Skye. Hikers also enjoy similar scenery in the Quirang. Other notable landmarks of The Isle of Skye include Kilt Rock, seen on the eastern shore of Skye on the Trotternish Peninsula and Dunvegan Castle on the western side of Skye. A visit to The Isle of Skye should include the scenic drive along the coast of the Trotternish Peninsula to see its beautiful scenery and the little Scottish villages of Staffin and Uig. Dunvegan Castle is undoubtedly the most famous of the castles of the Isle, but I personally found it quite disappointing.
