What's New

Photos of Kathmandu, Nepal

Site-Map
The old section of Kathmandu can be an assault on the senses. It is very crowded, dirty, smelly, and noisy. It has so much of cultural interest to offer a visitor that it should not be missed. It's an adventure to visit, but not all pleasure. It's a maze of narrow curvy streets that suddenly end, so navigation is a challenge. It's full of shops that sell everything imaginable, but after a day, they all begin to look alike. I suspect it was a far more thrilling and interesting place to visit during the American hippy era of the 60's and 70's when it became famous.

Bakhtapur and Patan are neighboring towns that should be visited while here. Patan has a history of Maoist and Communist government. At the time these photos were taken, motorized vehicles were prohibited, making it a quiet respite from Kathmandu. It is a beautiful, ancient city with many beautiful temples.

This page has pictures of Pasupathinath temple, Swayambunath Temple, the Bagmati River, Krishna Mandir Temple, and Bakhtapur Vatsala Temple.
