Site-Map
The Merida cable car is the longest and highest in the world. It closed operation in 2008 and has been renovated and re-opened. It's possible to ride this cable car, be dropped off, and make an excellent mountain hike to the Andes Mountain village of Los Nevados, Venezuela. The hike through this section of the Andes Mountains is full and wildflowers and outstanding mountain scenery. Los Nevados is a beautiful village and both it and the hike there are well worth the time and effort. Be forewarned, if returning to Merida by vehicle, the road back is one of the most dangerous you'll encounter anywhere. This page has photos of the hike from the Merida cable car to Los Nevados in the Andes Mountains of Venezuela. Point to an image for an enlargement or use the Slideshow below.

Los Nevados
Los Nevados is a beautiful village in the Andes Mountains of Venezuela. A typical excursion there typically starts from Merida, where the highest cable car in the world takes you high into the mountains. From there, a long, beautiful hike will take you to this village.
