There are an estimated 25,000 to 30,000 species of Orchids in our world. Most are found in the subtropical regions of South & Central America, Asia, and Africa, but they’re found worldwide except in the Antarctic and deserts. Most African orchids are white, while the Asian varieties are typically multi-colored. Some grow roots into the ground and form tubers while others grow attached to trees with aerial roots. Yet none of these facts say anything about the sensuous beauty of these flowers.

This gallery has macro photographs of orchids. If you grow orchids, or simply love the beauty of these sensuous flowers, then you might enjoy this photographic gallery. Larger versions of these Orchid photos can be viewed by using a mouse rollover, or using the Slideshow below. See everything TheWorldinLight has to offer at Destinations and Topics.
