Great Blue Heron #2763
Ottaw NWR is a large wetlands area, so it's difficult to get close to these large, wading birds. These heron and egret shots were taken with a Canon EF 70-200mm f5.6L lens with a 1.4x teleconverter all mounted on an EOS 50D (APS C-sized sensor) for an overall focal length of 448mm.

Egret #2760
These birds have developed an amazing level of patience while hunting for fish, frogs, and snakes.

Great Blue Heron #2764
This is the Lily Pond at Schedel Gardens.

Great Blue Heron #2776
Check out the intensity of this Heron hunting for dinner.

Dragonfly #2742
These wetlands are prime dragonfly territory. Unfortunately, I had a breezy day whle there, making it difficult to get a sharp shot.

Dragonfly #2752
The Schedel Gardens are decorated with a multitude of beautiful large, bronze statues.
