Photos of Quebec City

Quebec City is one of the oldest cities in North America, founded in 1608. It is also one of the most beautiful and should be considered a top travel destination. The old city lies within fortified walls - the only such fortifications left in North America north of Mexico. This portion of the city is the most European-looking and European-feeling of any city in the Americas. The narrow city streets and pedestrian zones, sidewalk cafes, and quaint little shops are a sheer pleasure to see and experience. The old city is full of interesting and beautiful architecture - the most famous of which is represented by the Chateau Frontenac, which dominates the Quebec skyline. Quebec City is positioned along a narrow portion of the Saint Lawrence Seaway, a brief ferry ride across from the city of Levis. Along the waterfront, the Terrasse Dufferin provides a popular and scenic place for visitors to stroll along the Saint Lawrence and view many of the fine old buildings near the Chateau Frontenac.
