The little town of Lindos on the island of Rhodes is located on a steep hillside. At the top of this hill is the ancient Acropolis of Lindos. It is a steep walk to the acropolis but well worth the effort. The views from the acropolis are excellent, and the ruins themselves are worth seeing. The acropolis was successively occupied by Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, and Ottomans so is interesting from an historical perspective. The town of Lindos has become something of a tourist attraction. It is an interesting place to roam, with narrow pedestrian walkways and very old architecture. It is also now crowded with shops selling linens, ceramics, and a variety of souvenir type items.
