Photos of Rosheim, France

What's New
Of the ancient, medieval villages in the Alsace region of France, Rosheim is notable for still having two of its original gates that were built as part of its medieval fortifications. The original city fortifications date back to the 13th century. As the city grew, the fortifications were enlarged in the late 13th and early 14th century. Rosheim, as all the medieval villages in the Alsace region of France, is rich in history and a sheer pleasure to visit. The church of Sts. Pierre et Paul which dates back to the 12th century, is one example of Rosheim's history and one of many of its tourist attractions. This page has photos of the church and examples of its gargoyles and stained glass. There are also photos of the city's ancient medieval gates, the architecture, and the Rosheim city streets.

The Alsace region of France lies along the nation's eastern border, adjacent to Germany. Rosheim is on the wine road in Alsace - the Alsatian Wine Route. This region of France has a long history of changing hands and often living under Germanic influence. Consequently, a person familiar with Germany and the style of architecture frequently used in Germany, might easily believe the villages in Alsace were actually located in Germany. The Alsace region of France should be considered a top travel destination. Larger versions of these photos of Rosheim can be viewed in the Slideshow below.
